I currently work in financial services and know it’s not the career for me. I need to keep working while I study but am looking for some tips as to recongnised qualifications in the fashion styling industry and can i study these from home rather then attend uni full time? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

   It’s extremely hard to get anywhere in the fashion industry if you are not in New York. New York has the most internships, as well as the best ones, which is why the fashion industry in that city is so competitive. I know a few people who got internships on http://freefashioninternships.com/.
   You also need to figure our who you want to work for– a design house? An agency? A scout? A magazine? And what you want to do– an assistant? A stylist? A consultant? A brand manager? An event planner?
   It’s good you have a background in financial services, but most places require something with a fashion or design background, even a management degree would be very complementary to the job descriptions that are out there.
   Now about going back to school.. you have to figure out exactly where you want to go, what hours you can do, how much time to put into this, how much money you can spend.
   I recommend you check out schools in a metropolitan city, visit when there are school and career fairs and ask representatives from the schools what kind of programs they offer; they can also answer all the questions you may have.
