How much can cultured pearls, diamonds, and natural pearls withstand fire?

Filed in Category Pearls

I want to know. Let’s assume the pearls and the diamond are large, too.
I wanna know for the current mystery in Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji.

I’ve heard that to see if a pearl is natural, you can burn it and it won’t get hurt while a cultured pearl would. ._. Any truth to that?

  1. Thinking about a little arson, are we?

  2. Diamonds are the hardest substance on earth…
Pearls would not withstand fire. Diamonds would.

  3. Diamonds were transported to the surface in a super violent volcanic eruption. A fire isn’t going to hurt them. Pearls are made out of calcium carbonate. It turns to lime in a high heat fire. If they were somewhat protected, they might survive.

  4. A little known fact about diamonds is that they can burn, and in very hot fires have been known to disappear entirely. Which makes sense, when you think about their primary ingredient (99.9% carbon).

Pearls are calcium carbonate, which means they are far less flammable, but can still melt and burn to a limited extent.

  5. Pearls cannot withstand very much heat from fire but a diamond is resistance to intense heat
