i really want to be a tattoo artist. i’m 14 and i’ve known for a long time thats what i’ve wanted too do. i’m very artistic, and i love tattoos so i think that would be a great field. i dont know about college or shops in order to get to my goal of one day owning my own tatoo parlor. if anyone could help me with the steps, and the names of some good colleges that would be great.

There are no official tattoo colleges. You would benefit by going to an art school and honing in on your art skills. Use your search bar and type your question in there, I’ve answered this question a few times recently and provided some details.
You get into Tattooing by apprenticeship in a shop not college, though you could then just look into art colleges for future. if you wanted. But the way to go is go to a shop and ask how they work with apprenticeships for tattooing, such as ages and what they do for that shop.
You can look up what they do on google to learn some on a typical apprenticeship but all shops are slightly different.
Im glad you aked this. I knew there was no designated tattoo college, but i also want to be a tattoo artist. Im sixteen and have been building up my collection of work for a little over a year. Drawings I mean, ive never tattooed anyone. I got really discouraged lately and decided id go to medical school and recently becoming an artist has been on my mind like crazy, i just dont know if im good enough so i have medical school as a fallback because i do really good in school. Im very artistic too but i just dont know, i have to figure it out soon though haha. I hope you become an artist that would be sick. You should post pictures of your work and see what people think.. I wanna see too!
You get into tattooing through an apprenticeship, not college.
This question was on here earlier so I’m just going to cheat and give you the link to that as I don’t have the energy for a second ramble!http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
You have to be over the age of 18 to be a tattooist for health and safe practice codes. It is best if you gather a folio of all your art pieces and take it to tattoo shops.
