Sex Help!!!?

Filed in Category Answers - Sex

Question:

Yeah, this has nothing to do with sex but now that you’ve clicked you might as well answer. For my Biology class we’re doing these “Bio-Talks” where we give a 10 minute presentation on anything relating to science. I can’t think of anything interesting to do, so any cool scientific study/idea/field/whatever that you can think of would help me choose what I want to do. I’ll give the best answer to people who present me with interesting parts of science. Don’t cop out with crap I already have thought about doing like global warming. Thanks.

The Science of Dying you could talk about what happens to a human body at the moment of death etc……… you could interview your local M.E.’s office. How they can tell how long a body’s been dead when its found somewhere. How temp etc affects the rate of decomposition??? Just and idea if its not too morbid……..

How about adverse reactions to medications? There are a lot of interesting and kinda cool ones that will catch everyone’s attention…such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome where your body responds to certain drugs by having an allergic reaction to your skin and sloughing off every bit of it…ouch! Or there was an antidepressant that was in clinical trials that caused people to orgasm every time they sneezed.
You could easily lead in with an attention getter example like that and then round off with a lesson in how we forget that when we take medications, we are altering a bit of our body’s normal chemistry, and how that can be a blessing but we have to be responsible with that power.
Or what about doing a talk on the discovery of Penicillin and how it affected the world? I heard a story about a girl who kept a diary (apparently you can find the entries she wrote online) and she got a paper cut, which got infected and she ended up dying from this. Nuts right? You could relate this to how we over prescribe antibiotics today and use them at sub-therapeutic doses in the cattle industry to increase meat mass (apparently we are not entirely sure why this works), and how this leads to antibiotic resistance.

Giant squids have been in the news a lot lately. This is exciting because these enormous, mysterious creatures have never been filmed alive until just recently (December of last year actually). Many of them have been showing up in fishing nets and biologists are starting to learn more and more about them. They might make an interesting topic for a presentation.

Since it’s biology, why don’t you talk about
    SEX!
    I mean, reproduction.
Since you had the subject an’ all…

Talk about the human reproductive system.
Or a disease like appendictis, or diabetes, or a type of cancer.
