Wal Mart’s Employee Policy For Body Piercings?

Filed in Category Body Piercings

I have a labret piercing on the bottom right of my lip and I have an industrial in my right ear as well as double piercings on each lobe. I am looking for a new part-time job and felt like being a cashier at Wal-Mart wouldn’t be too bad. Does anyone know Wal Mart’s policy for body piercings?

  1. The handbook pretty much says you can’t have any visible ones (that includes tattooss too). If you decide to work there I hope you enjoy way more than I have.

  2. The official policy is that you cannot have facial piercings but it is sort of down to the managers working at the particular store. I worked in a number of different Wal-Mart stores during my “career” with them and some stores were super strict about it while others didn’t seem to care much. They probably won’t care about your ear piercings but the labret may be a sticking point. You can fill out an application and see what happens but honestly I wouldn’t even go that far. They are a horrible company to work for.

  3. Wait a minute. You have piercings and want to work at Wal-Mart. That doesn’t make sense. Why would you worry about that sort of thing, you are out there, avant guard, with the in crowd, the different, the outsiders looking in, the threatening, the tough guys, the unusual, bad ***, dangerous, unpredictable. You choose a culture of piercings and tattoos which is your right as an American, but you then want to join the same culture you spurn with your body piercings and tattoos. I shop at Wal-Mart and choose the culture of those who frequent it, trailer trash (I grew up in a trailer), white trash, red necks bourbon swilling average white boys who love the fishing tackle and shot gun shells at discount – not to mention the Hank Williams Junior music. Wal-Mart is our turf baby, don’t defile it with your icons of hatred toward our kind.
OK, I am kidding very much here and I had fun doing it. Don’t worry about Wal-Mart if they want you to work there they will let you. Regardless of who you are, jobs are gotten by hard work, persistence and continued hard work. You will be hired for your maturity and how you conduct yourself as it should be. If they don’t accept that, then don’t work there. You have chosen a path and stick with it, its your life.
I hope you liked the tong and cheek humor and good luck.

  4. My friend (male) had a couple helix piercings and he was fine. Might be a little risky with the labret (could you put a retainer in?) but the ears should be fine.
