I was wondering what happens with all the hats that are thrown on the ice after a hat trick. Do they throw them out, do the players keep them or what?

   They put them in a bin and leave them by the exit so you can grab your hat on the way out. A lot of times hats get stolen though.

   from what i understand, you can go and get your hat back after you throw it from the place where they are stored after they are collected from the ice. if not collected, they are donated to a local charity

   some keep them others dont. they scoop them up and put them in bags, sometimes they stay in the locker room…

   I’ve always wondered about that to… They probably just throw em out or donate em or so :/

   Deficate in them, rather than using the bathroom.

   At Nationwide in Columbus we have a big case (don’t know if we still do) that all the hats would be put into I think it was half full by 2007 lol. Still I’ve thrown my hat at other pro rinks and sometimes you can actually get them back, but some rinks they just completely disappear.
