I always think of wools, tweeds, classic timeless cuts and impeccably tailored fit in British fashions. I also tend to think of British clothes as being somewhat duller in colours, more basics like greys and navy and browns. In evening wear I think of ball gowns and classic formal pieces. For American fashion I think of casual sportswear pieces and glamorous high fashion glitzy Hollywood and NYC evening dresses in long and short lengths. I think of American fashion as less rigid and rule based, while British fashion tends to be more conservative. I also think of American fashion as being brightly coloured, more oriented to denim and casual chic. I also see American fashion as trendier, things go in and out of fashion faster in the US than in England.
Well, I’m part British and something I know for a fact is that some of my guy relatives from England find it strange that boys here like to wear their clothes baggy. There aren’t as many long puffy shirts or big baggy jeans and they most definitely do not sag their pants.
As for women, I guess there isn’t so much of a difference. I’ve noticed that girls wear skirts and dresses there more often than over here, if that makes any difference. But other than that, I’m not sure.
I dont really think there is much of a difference, in girls anyway. I think Americans wear more preppy clothing than in England, but there are still lots of preppy people in England. Hmm…. I dont really know about the guys but i guess i agree with the baggy thing lol.
