I’m mystified. So many schools ban body piercings other than ear piercings, and so many jobs turn down pierced applicants.

What’s with that?

Girls with huge hoop earrings aren’t discriminated against.

   You have a good point. I believe that because for centuries people have mainly only pierced their ears that anything new is largely considered shocking or unacceptable. The same is true for certain hairstyles or types of clothing. In time, it will become more acceptable. Much like how tattoos have become more acceptable.
