   Stay away from anything too poofy. It will make you look shorter and bigger then you really are, trust me, it reduced me to tears.    I am short and fat. It is very tough to find something that looks good on me. But heres what I have learned in my experience of formal dress shopping. I have learned that shorter dresses make me look taller than the floor length ones. Floor length dresses swallow me up. Halter top dresses tend to broaden my shoulders and make me look larger. Anything with a band underneath the bust helps because it accentuates the smallest part of my body. Ruffles make me look larger, as well as too many beads or details. Something simple and plain is always good. Sleeves is also a good option, it makes arms look thinner. Flowy sleeves that hit just below the shoulder are the best. Spaghetti straps or sleeveless dresses are the very worst because it looks as though the straps are cutting into shoulders or I’m squeezing out of the top of the dress. If the bride wants to do sleeveless dress, try something with a little wider straps placed farther on the shoulders. When I leave my hair down that also makes my face look thinner than when I have it up. Also curls can make a person look bigger, but loose waves are always gorgeous and makes a person look thinner. Heels help with height and can make a person look thinner as well. And smaller necklaces are also good instead of the big bulky ones. I hope any of this helps.

   A-line dresses work very well. Wear your hair in an up-do and wear a tiara instead of a veil. These elements can give the appearance of height and looking slim. Go with capped sleeves or short sleeves and wear really high comfortable heels.

    No stripes or anything loud. A nice solid color in a one piece. Have it pass the knees to look longer.
