ive seen questions on here about 12 year olds who want body and facial piercings and them wondering why there parents wont allow them to do it. I personally think it is extreemly trashy for middle school girls to get body piercings. what do you think and what age do you think people should be able to get pircings?

   Just like any other person who wants to get a piercing..because they want to.
   I got my ears pierced at 7, and belly button pierced at 14 and I don’t think it’s trashy at all. It’s personal preference and my mum was fine with it. However, I don’t think a 12 year old should get a facial piercing because of the chance of it getting infected “/ and I don’t think a 12 year old should get a body piercing at 12 either.
   But at 13 I think they should be allowed. They’re a teenager and can make up their own minds. Teenagers aren’t all stupid and most know a good deal about life, etc.

   Well, first off, they probably think it will be ‘cool’ or it’ll make them look ‘sexy’.
   I think it’s a bad idea, because 99.9% of those middle-schoolers don’t have the maturity to be able to care properly for those piercings, and many don’t realise that in some cases, ‘proper care’ doesn’t stop once the piercing has healed enough to change out the jewelry.
   Also, especially in the case of tongue or lip piercings, again many of them don’t realise the connotations the piercings in question carry, or else they do and then they REALLY shouldn’t be getting them. Any middle-school girl who doesn’t realise tongue piercings are associated with oral sex definitely shouldn’t be allowed to get one, and any middle-school girl who wants a tongue piercing because it’s associated with oral sex has HUGE issues…
   I think people obviously should be able to get piercings when they’re 18 and an adult… before that, however, I think the lower limit should be around middle school for cartilage and 16 or so for all other piercings.

   People are legally allowed to get piercings at 13+, with parental consent of course. Piercings have become a current trend, so yes most middle school kids do want piercings, but the parents are the one’s who decide whether they can or not.
   When I was 12-13 (This was before it was even a trend), I really wanted my bellybutton pierced, my mother wouldn’t let me. Of course I was annoyed about it then, but as I got older I realized it just looks silly on little kids, and I’m glad she didn’t let me.
   Hopefully other parents will use good judgment.

   Uh, because they like piercings? Just because you think its trashy doesnt mean everyone does. People are going to do things you dont agree with in this world – just a heads up.
   Personally, I think 13 is a good age to start getting piercings. And when I say that, I mean REAL piercings, not just ears. For that it really doesnt matter what age. I love piercings myself and I got my first one out of the four I have now (belly button, helix, nose, lobes) when I was 13 and I dont think I was trashy at all.
   I think you need to be less judgmental.
   *Oh and I would just like to add, I dont get my piercings because I want to be “cool” or look older or because guys in rock bands have them. Im a little more intelligent than that thanks. I get them because I like them and I think they look good. Thats it.

   It all depends on which way they go with the media. If they are into rock music and see that their idols have a piercing they will want to be like them. I think it is fine to want a piercing because they aren’t permanent, but at that young I would tell me son/daughter they would have to wait til highschool and if they still wanted it then they could get it. By then they might grow out of the phase or want something more useful.

   I agree 100%. I’m 13 going on 14. And I don’t want a belly button,eyebrow, tongue, or lip peircing. I think they look so nasty. The only peircings I have are two earlobe peircings and a cartilidge peircing that is as far as I will done with getting peircings. If I had a teen daughter I wouldn’t let her get disguisting peircings like that until the day she moves out of the house. Thank you. Amen!!! lol

   Personally I don’t like any body piercings except earrings and small nose studs. And even when people get their ears pierced I think its kinda tacky when they’re all the way up your ear. 1 or 2 is more than enough. Kids wanna grow up so fast nowadays and they think piercings will make them look older and cooler.

   I think it looks naff when 12 year olds have body or facial piercings, they think it makes them look ”older.”
   But those kids are the ones who probably have parents who pierce their ears when their like aged 2, how trashy is that!
